In 2019, I was scheduled to attend equine assisted psychotherapy training at Remount Foundation, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is a non-profit organization that provides support to the military, first responders, and their families. However, it would not be until 2023, I was able to complete the training.
I was instead, hospitalized and needed to focus all of my attention on my health. I was in recovery from my bone marrow transplant when covid-19 shut down the world, and I took extra precautions with social distancing to protect my immune system. In 2023, my medical team shared that I no longer needed anymore survivorship appointments and the cancer treatment remained successful. That fall, I had the opportunity to join Remount Foundation and complete the equine assisted psychotherapy training. The timing aligned beautifully, as the training from O.K. Corral uses Herd Mentality and I was returning to being in community.
